Rove Adds Nagios Monitoring and Symbian S60 Support to its Mobile Administration Solution

ROVE [1]OttawaRove Inc. [1], leading developer of network administration software that provides smartphone-based management of IT systems and infrastructure, today announced the latest highly anticipated version of its flagship product. Mobile Admin now supports Nagios Monitoring [2], the leading open-source system, network and application monitoring solution, and Symbian [3] S60 smartphones.

Through Mobile Admin, IT Administrators can view host and service details, view problems and acknowledge events raised by Nagios, at any time. Administrators can then directly access the affected host or service and rapidly address the issues using Mobile Admin. With this release, these administration tasks can be performed on Symbian S60 smartphones in addition to BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices that Mobile Admin has traditionally supported.

“Nagios is very broadly deployed, with over 250,000 users worldwide and Symbian is the world’s leading smartphone OS, with over 47% market share. This release represents a key step in our continuing strategy to deliver a solution that addresses the complete IT administration needs of our diverse customer base,” said Rob Woodbridge, President and CEO of Rove.

This release received enthusiastic early acceptance during Mobile Admin’s beta testing phase and generated many positive reactions from the Nagios community and Symbian users alike.

James Hart Prieto of Uffculme School, a UK secondary school, deployed Mobile Admin within his IT environment. “The addition of Nagios makes Mobile Admin a must have, simplifying our system monitoring”, he said when asked to describe his experiences using the software. “It takes me 2 minutes to perform a task with Mobile Admin that would have taken 20 minutes on a laptop – no matter where I happen to be at the time.”

Mobile Admin 4.2, including support for both Nagios and Symbian S60 clients, is available immediately from Rove and its reseller channel.
