astral mediaAstral Media Inc. has announced that Disney XD, Astral’s newest kids service and the French-language Disney Junior are now available on Cogeco Cable. Disney XD debuts to Ontario Cogeco Digital subscribers as part of a three-month preview on channel 99 while the preschool network, available to Quebec-based subscribers, is available on channel 89, also part of a free preview. The launches of both of these networks form part of the long-term renewal agreement between Astral and Cogeco Cable for Astral’s movie and kids services.

“It is fantastic to have Cogeco on board with Disney XD and Disney Junior en Francais,” said Joe Tedesco, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Astral Kids. “The high-energy and attitude of the Disney XD brand is a unique offering in the Canadian marketplace and one that more households will be able to discover and enjoy as we continue to grow audiences and expand our distribution. Disney Junior is proving itself to be a beloved brand with Anglophone and Francophone preschoolers and their families; we are thrilled to see it launch on Cogeco.”

Disney XD is an advertising-supported network offering series, movies and additional content that highlights accomplishment, adventure, sports and comedy. Focusing on boys, but inclusive of girls, Disney XD’s roster of series includes Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil, Phineas and Ferb, Kickin’ It, Zeke and Luther and I’m In The Band. Canadian original series on the network include the comedy series What’s Up, Warthogs!

Like its English-language counterpart, the French-language version of Disney Junior is a commercial-free network that celebrates magical, musical and heartfelt stories. The destination for popular Disney titles such as La Maison de Mickey (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) and Jake et les pirates du pays imaginaire (Jake and the Never Land Pirates), Disney Junior also showcases Canadian pre-school productions including Justin rêve (Justin Time) and the lauded Stella et Sacha (Stella and Sam).

“The addition of Disney Junior and Disney XD confirms once again the will of Cogeco to offer the best digital services available and create the most comprehensive offer. We are proud to offer the best content from Astral to families, kids and preschool children,” said Ron Perrotta, Vice-President Marketing and Strategic Planning.
