DNA First to Launch New Sierra Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot in EMEA

sierra wireless [1]Sierra Wireless [1] and Finnish telecommunications company DNA [2] have announced that the new AirCard® 762S mobile hotspot is now available from DNA. The DNA 4G WLAN Mokkula, as it is called, provides a 4G LTE connection for up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled devices at once on the DNA LTE network, ideal for a family or team of colleagues carrying multiple devices.

Laptops, tablets, cameras, and portable gaming devices can be connected on-the-go to a high-speed connection fully capable of handling large files and media streaming. This is the first European launch for the AirCard 76xS product family, which was unveiled at Mobile World Congress in late February.

AirCard® 762S supports all network technologies DNA has to offer: 2G, 3G, and 4G. Monthly fee for the device is 6€, with data plans available from 13,90€ for 21 Mbps 3G; 19,90€ for 50 Mbps 4G DC + LTE; and 39,80€ for 100 Mbps 4G LTE.

DNA has the largest 4G DC network in Finland covering over 100 cities and almost 50% of the Finnish population. Its LTE network is available in the capital city Helsinki, as well as in Turku, Tampere and Hämeenlinna.

DNA 4G WLAN Mokkula is sold throughout Finland in DNA Kauppa stores.

“DNA strives to provide our customers with the best mobile broadband experience possible, and we set high quality standards for our devices,” said Ville Partanen, DNA Head of Data Products. “The Sierra Wireless mobile hotspot delivers an exceptional customer experience, combining the mobility of wireless broadband with the speed and performance of fixed broadband, enabling internet access that is easy to use and serves a wide variety of devices on the DNA 4G network.”

“So many people now carry multiple connected devices with them wherever they go, from laptops, to tablets, to media players and gaming devices. We believe that DNA customers will find that having a 4G LTE mobile hotspot from Sierra Wireless makes it extremely simple for them to connect and use whatever tool or device is best for the task at hand, regardless of where they might be at the time. It offers the freedom to manage life in a way that works best for them. We are very pleased to collaborate with DNA on our first European launch for this new product family,” said Dan Schieler, Senior Vice President, Mobile Computing for Sierra Wireless.

Setting up and using the DNA 4G WLAN Mokkula mobile hotspot is quick and easy. Sierra Wireless AirCard mobile hotspots are known for their informative and user-friendly LCD display screens, which provide all the device information needed to connect and monitor the hotspot network connection and battery life. The DNA 4G WLAN Mokkula offers a navigation button that scrolls through several screens, providing access to messages and alerts, firmware status, and more detailed device information directly from the device itself without logging in to the web interface. This saves users time and makes it easier to use the mobile hotspot with devices that may not have a standard web browser, such as Wi-Fi-enabled cameras or mobile gaming devices.

The DNA 4G WLAN Mokkula offers up to 6 hours of battery life while in steady use, and for heavy users, an extended battery providing up to 8 hours will be made available as an optional purchase.

For those who want to expand the use of their hotspot at home or in a small office setting, the AirCard Hub, also sold separately, acts as a docking station and extends the 4G LTE connection to 16 Wi-Fi, four Ethernet, and two USB devices, while charging the hotspot’s battery and boosting its signal strength with the use of external antennas. The AirCard Hub is expected to be available from DNA in mid-April.
