New Mobile Innovation App Pinpoints Location and ETA for Critical Incident Response Teams

mobile innovationsMobile Innovations President and founder Gary Bauer announced his company’s launch of MPACIRT today. The new app facilitates and simplifies the response to critical and dangerous situations facing law enforcers by automating essential CIRT (Critical Incident Response Team) communications. Designed primarily for SWAT teams and highway patrol units, the MPACIRT solution uses BlackBerry PIN to PIN messaging platform along with GPS to locate, alert, inform and report back team member status and distance from any critical incident with a few simple thumb strokes or touches on the display on any BlackBerry smartphone.

The application uses PIN messages to make team members simultaneously aware of each others status and see each of their co-responders’ exact location on an easily viewable map in real time. Running on the world’s most secure messaging platform and incorporating GPS tracking, the new MPACIRT app eliminates time wasted as well as confusion arising from multiple and often redundant emails, pager messages, text messages and mobile phone communications between team members, their commander and dispatch at headquarters.

Whether the CIRT teams are local, regional or even national; minutes or hours from the scene of the incident; they keep apprised and on the same page with a continuous flow of GPS data and secure communications in real time. The result is a better informed, better prepared team whose leader can make a better decision about whether to stand down or proceed in any critical situation.

The MPACIRT app is notable not only because of its situational accuracy and communications streamlining capabilities, it is also unique because it runs from one BlackBerry device to another without requiring BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) hosting. Because of this, the solution is extremely cost effective and simple to deploy, even where large teams or multiple jurisdictions are involved.

“MPACIRT leverages the expertise we’ve gained with previous development of two of our existing apps.” Explains Bauer. “You could say that MPA CIRT is a hybrid of MPAOfficerProtection, a white label PIN to PIN app sold through one of our partners, and MPATracker which locates and shows BlackBerry team members using GPS.”

“With the CIRT Commander and CIRT member apps both done on the BlackBerry, we’re now working on the CIRT Commander interface for the PlayBook with its larger form factor. This provides a larger display area, providing an even clearer picture for the CIRT Commander,” adds Bauer.

The app is being made available through a per user costing model, as opposed to a per month or per use basis. Coupled with the fact that no BES purchase is required and deployment is possible quickly without specialized IT knowledge, MPACIRT is designed for mass adoption by all agencies with a CIRT team. As well as law enforcement SWAT teams and highway patrol units, fire, disaster, EMS and even utility emergency repair crews can also benefit from the MPACIRT’s ability to minimize time, cost and possible confusion often involved in critical situational response.
