Fido Casting Call 2

fidoReturning this summer by popular demand, the Fido Casting Call2 contest will search for the next dog to star in an upcoming Fido advertisement. Open for submissions across Canada on August 13, Fido Casting Call 2 will support the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, a non-profit organization that provides Dog Guides to Canadians with disabilities.

Dog owners across Canada are encouraged to get their pooches brushed up, competition-ready and captured on camera striking their favourite pose. Dog owners can enter the contest by submitting a superstar image of their dog online, and dog lovers can vote daily for their preferred pooch until September 10, 2012. For each vote, Fido will Fido Casting Call 2donate $1 to Dog Guides Canada, up to a maximum of $200,000. Dog Guides Canada will use the funds donated by Fido to train and place 10 Dog Guides with Canadians with disabilities.

“We were very impressed by the enthusiasm Fido Casting Call participants and voters showed us last year, and we’re excited to see dog owners across the country embrace the contest again this summer,” said Steven Sarfin, Senior Director, Marketing, Fido. “Through Fido Casting Call 2, we want to demonstrate how dogs are enriching the lives of Canadians in many different ways, while showing our commitment to improving the lives of those with disabilities through our partnership with Dog Guides Canada.”

To help get your dog ready for the competition, an All Star Prep team of groomers will be onsite at local Fido Casting Call 2 park events from August 11 to 12, and August 18 to 19 in six Canadian cities:

  • Vancouver
  • Calgary
  • Winnipeg
  • Toronto
  • Ottawa
  • Montréal

“We’re very excited to be a part of Fido Casting Call this year. The initiative brings significant awareness and support for Dog Guides,” says Sandy Turney, executive director, Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. “From their commitment to helping our charity, along with their generous donations, Fido ensures that we can continue to help more people with disabilities.”

In addition to being featured in an upcoming Fido print ad, the winning dog will get a VIP pooch pamper experience in Montréal that includes:

  • VIP spa treatments for the winning dog and its owner
  • Professional photo shoot with a dog trainer and dog groomer
