Mobile Innovations Revs Up For 108th CACP Conference

mobile innovations [1]As Winnipeg gears up to host the 108th Annual Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) Conference [2] this August, Mobile Innovations [1] founder and President Gary Bauer announced the showcase appearance of a 2013 Ford Interceptor with MPA In-Vehicle Office at the BlackBerry exhibit. Anticipating BlackBerry’s [3] move away from tablets, Mobile Innovations will be using a Google tablet tied to BB10.

Up-fitted with Mobile Innovations in-vehicle office, the Interceptor will feature on-board peripherals including license scanner, printer, webcam and keyboard – all connected to a BlackBerry 10 with 2-factor authentication.

One innovation in time for this year’s CACP show is that for the first time ever, a BlackBerry 10 will be connected to peripherals and a Google Nexus 10 [4] which will act as a dumb terminal and HD heads-up display for the entire in-vehicle office set up. Another innovation is that voice transcription for license look-ups can now be done using Mobile Innovation’s MPADictation app, which brings the voice transcription power of Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking [5] to the BlackBerry platform.

Widely recognized as the go-to company for advanced wireless solutions for law enforcement with BlackBerry, Mobile Innovations will be the first company in the world to offer a plug-and-play solution that combines the productivity of Dragon, the security of BlackBerry10 and the user experience of a 10 inch Android display.

“Officers say their user experience with dictation and the 10 inch touch-screen is amazing,” says Bauer. “They say it’s like having HD in their cruisers, with total control over a fully operational office on wheels — an office that let’s you dictate reports, witness statements and plate lookups, scan licenses, print tickets and get intel. They love it, as much as their management likes the cost savings.”

Sitting in the Ford Interceptor’s passenger seat throughout the show, Bauer will be offering live demos of Mobile Innovations’ in-vehicle office to attendees by dictating license plate look-ups into his BB10, and then using the Android tablet to read back the results.

Joining Bauer will be public service sector experts from Nuance and BlackBerry, as well as Paul Grierson from D & R Electronics [6], the company that executed the physical up-fit and implemented the dock for Mobile Innovations’ mobile office.
