“We buy books all year long, but summer is when we have time to read them,” said Michael Tamblyn, Chief Content Officer, Kobo. “Kobo Readers logged more than 11.9 million hours reading in the summer months last year and it’s easy to see why. Summer is when all of the benefits of eReading – instant access, low prices, incredible selection and devices or apps that go anywhere – become most compelling, whether you’re a kid with a free afternoon or a grownup enjoying the first day of vacation.”

Kobo’s recommended reads this summer are break-out thrillers like Dan Brown’s Inferno, The 9th Girl by Tami Hoag, or The Heist by Janet Evanovich and Goldberg Lee. For kids who like spooky stories, consider Doll Bones by Holly Black or The Dark by Lemony Snicket and Jon Klassen. Have a friend who recently graduated? Kelly Williams Brown’s latest book Adulting: How to Become a Grown-up in 468 Easy(ish) Steps is sure to keep them motivated, while this summer’s best beach reads include Island Girls by Nancy Thayer, Dorothea Benton Frank’s The Last Original Wife, or The Way You Look Tonight: The Sullivans by Bella Andre. And if you’re not able to get away this summer, take a mental vacation with books like Graeme Simsion’s The Rosie Project, Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan, or Carl Hiaasen’s Bad Monkey.
