Building on the success of 2012, the Whistler Film Festival ‘s ShortWork Lab  returns for its 13th edition to empower the next generation of storytellers. As part of its industry Summit taking place December 5th to 7th, the ShortWork Lab provides filmmakers firsthand insight into the world of narrative short-form storytelling. Emerging filmmakers are invited to participate in this full day of panel discussions, pitches, networking and screenings with filmmakers and industry experts.
New for 2013, the Whistler Film Festival introduces the Aboriginal Filmmaker Fellowship  to its industry Summit programming. Up to four Aboriginal filmmakers from British Columbia will be invited to participate in WFF’s inaugural Aboriginal Filmmaker Fellowship, a creative and business immersion experience to be held in Whistler on December 6 to 7, 2013. Designed to advance Canadian Aboriginal creative talent, the program focuses on strengthening short script projects by facilitating feedback from a group of mentors who are established members of the Canadian film community. Facilitators for the program include Canadian producer Elizabeth Yake, and Sundance’s Director of the Native American and Indigenous Program, N. Bird Runningwater. The application deadline is November 1, 2013.
ELLE Canada’s October issue features the call for submissions for ELLE Canada’s Fashion Film Competition  in partnership with the Whistler Film Festival. This exciting new initiative invites emerging filmmakers to submit short fashion films to ELLE Canada by October 7, 2013, for a chance to have their films screened at the Whistler Film Festival. An esteemed panel of judges including Noreen Flanagan, editor-in-chief of ELLE Canada and Paul Gratton, Director of Programming of the Whistler Film Festival, will review all the films and select three finalists who will join the editors of ELLE Canada at an exclusive cocktail reception at the 13th annual Whistler Film Festival, which takes place December 4 to 8, 2013.
WFF’s online box office  is now open for early bird industry registration and festival passes until October 31st. Best accommodation rates are also available starting from $89* per night until November 18th subject to availability. The Festival lineup, film schedule and individual film and event tickets will be available online by November 4th (until December 7th). The Festival Box Office opens November 4th for phone sales and on November 29th for walk-in sales.
