CanWIT BC January Breakfast Club

CanWIT BC ChapterBC’s CanWIT chapter invites you to come and hear from Katie Bennett, an executive leadership and career coach who will host an interactive session titled Accelerate Your Career – Leveraging Your Talents In 2014 And Beyond, which is designed to challenge you to think about your own personal “hedgehog concept”. The idea of The Hedgehog Concept comes from the work of Jim Collins, author of Good to Great and Built to Last, among others. Your Hedgehog concept is the intersection of three key ideas:

  • What you are deeply passionate about? Passion refers to what you get excited about doing. The goal is not to stimulate passion but to discover what makes you passionate. Is your work aligned with what you are passionate about? When it is, your career trajectory will soar.
  • What you can be the best in the world at — What do you do where you constantly have people say “you are so good at that?” What comes naturally and easily to you? What are you doing when you are at your Katie Bennettbest? This is a capability that if properly channeled, guided, and focused upon can make you the best in what you do.
  • What drives your economic engine — Building a sound economic engine requires profound insight into the economics of the opportunities before you. In the field of technology, the opportunities are endless as is the financial upside. Are you tapping into the economic potential of this field?

Expect to walk away from this breakfast with specific insights into what you can do to propel your career with your talents and some specific action items to get you there.
