What’s In Store For You At Spark [FWD]

spark fwd [1]Michael Uslan [2], Executive Producer will kick off the fifth version of Spark [FWD] [1] on Wednesday, February 5th with a keynote address titled From Fan To Filmmaker. Festivities begin with a mixer at the 6 PM in the Citytv Atrium Lounge at VanCity Theatre. It will be followed by a presentation from comic book and Batman expert Michael Uslan. Mr. Uslan purchased the film rights to Batman in the late 70s and has been an integral part of the “Batman” films, executive producing all of the film adaptations including 1989’s “Batman” and, most recently, Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Trilogy.”

A teacher, writer and executive producer, Michael Uslan has been passionate about comic books and Batman in particular, since childhood. He began sharing his passion while at Indiana University where he created and taught the first ever accredited Michael Uslan [3]college course in comics. His career as a producer began in 1979 when Mr. Uslan acquired the rights to “Batman” from DC comics but it would be nearly twenty years before his dream of bringing the caped crusader to the big screen would be fulfilled but that dream became a reality in 1989 with the release of Tim Burton’s “Batman.”

In the years since his initial success, Mr. Uslan has continued to be involved with the production of all of the “Batman” movies, most recently with the hugely successful “The Dark Knight Trilogy,” and also written a book “The Boy Who Loved Batman” which chronicles his youthful passion for his favourite comic book character from the early years to today. Mr. Uslan will follow-up his presentation with a book signing of his memoir “The Boy Who Loved Batman” and the evening will close with a silver anniversary screening of Tim Burton’s “Batman.”

Tickets for the Opening Mixer, Keynote and Silver Anniversary Screening are $25.00, and are available for purchase [1] online. Tickets for individual film events range from $5.00 to $15.00 for the Closing Conference Party. Please see the ticket page [1] for more information.
