Belgium And Canada Announce Interactive Digital Media Incentive

Canada Media FundThe Canada Media Fund and Wallimage (Wallonia, Belgium) announced today an agreement to establish an incentive to encourage the codevelopment and coproduction of eligible interactive digital media projects between transatlantic producers. The Incentive is only available to co-productions between Canada and Belgium, but does not exclude third-party co-producing partners from other territories, even if such partner is the majority co-producer of a project that receives financing from the Incentive.

“The CMF is delighted to be working with Wallimage to present an opportunity for Canadian and Belgian producers to partner and create interactive digital content that resonates with audiences in Canada and around the world” says Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, CMF. “We look forward to a successful working relationship that will deliver new compelling content from talented producers in both countries.”

“Ever since Wallimage has decided to support the Crossmedia sector, our go-to-market model has been the CMF. It is therefore a great honor and a wonderful encouragement to be able to build bridges between producers and service providers from our region and their Canadian counterparts” adds Philippe Reynaert, CEO of Wallimage. “From now on we’ll be associating Transmedia and Transatlantic!”

The Canada – Wallonia Digital Media Incentive for Multiplatform Projects’ budget is set at CAD $600,000, with each partner investing half of the total amount. Projects must be digital interactive content, explore a transmedia approach to content production, innovative or experimental and developed on appropriate platform(s) with regards to content and audiences.

The incentive is now open for applications and the closing date is February 2, 2015. Projects will be evaluated and chosen by a selection committee composed of representatives from the CMF, Wallimage and an industry expert. Please see the International Coproductions And Codevelopment Incentives page for more information about the program.
