Perspective Canada Showcases Compelling Slate Of Canadian Features Along With Not Short On Talent Short Film Initiative

Telefilm CanadaTelefilm Canada is pleased to announce its Perspective Canada line-up, a series of Canadian features to be screened during the Marché du Film, which runs parallel to the Cannes Film Festival (May 14 to 25, 2014). Canada Media Fund Embarks On Cross-Country Outreach Tour To Meet With Stakeholders

Canada Media Fund The Canada Media Fund (CMF) will conduct a cross-country Outreach in spring 2014 to present changes to the 2014-2015 Guidelines, 2013-2014 funding results, the application process and to answer questions. The meetings will be moderated by Nathalie Clermont, CMF Director of Program Management. She will be joined by representatives of the CMF Program Administrator|Telefilm Canada, Melissa Amer for the English market, and Dominique Lapierre for the French market. The NFB Returns To Annecy Animation Festival With Nine Films

nfbAt the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, which takes place from June 9 to 14, 2014, the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) will present a rich selection of innovative films showcasing the talents of animation filmmakers from here and elsewhere. This year’s program boasts no less than nine short films produced or co-produced by the NFB: seven of them are in competition, six are receiving world-premiere screenings, and four are international co-productions. The NFB is extremely pleased to play a part in the worldwide renown of Canadian animated films. Animation has always had pride of place at the NFB, and is the genre par excellence through which audiences can discover the daring creativity of some of today’s finest filmmakers. New York Comes Knocking For BC Women In Technology

Marie-Josée Saint-Pierre’s Jutra Selected For Directors’ Fortnight At Cannes

nfbThe prestigious Cannes International Film Festival has announced that Jutra, a short film directed and produced by Marie-Josée Saint-Pierre (MJSTP Films) in co-production with the National Film Board of Canada (Marc Bertrand), will feature on the lineup of the 46th Directors’ Fortnight. An international showcase organized by the Film Directors’ Guild (Société des Réalisateurs de Films, SRF), the Directors’ Fortnight will take place from May 15–25, 2014. Based on skilfully assembled archival footage and animated sequences, Jutra is an ingenious portrait of the great Quebec filmmaker Claude Jutra, director of Mon oncle Antoine. Pursuing the process she began in 2006 with McLaren’s Negatives, Saint-Pierre has created a new animated documentary in which she encapsulates the career of a filmmaking legend with finesse and originality.
