BC Talent Featured At Casual Connect USA

Province of BCBritish Columbia’s innovative and creative casual games industry will showcase their talents at the professionals-only Casual Connect conference in San Francisco today and tomorrow. The B.C. government will be there to support them by providing meeting space and business-to-business matchmaking. Vancouver-based Imaginary Games will be featured in the IDEA Showcase at the conference and their social mobile game Afterland is highlighted in the latest issue of Casual Connect magazine. Canada Media Fund Supports 25 Interactive Digital Media Projects

Canada Media Fund The Canada Media Fund (CMF) has announced that 25 interactive digital media projects received a total of $12.6M in funding as part of the first round of production support from the Experimental Stream.  The Experimental Stream encourages the creation of innovative, interactive digital media content and software applications. Consumers will be able to enjoy a variety of interactive digital media content including 16 games, 4 interactive projects, 2 social media platforms, 2 software applications, and 1 ebook. Telefilm Canada Pleased Audiovisual Coproduction Treaty With India Now In Force

Telefilm CanadaTelefilm Canada is very pleased that the Audiovisual Coproduction Treaty (PDF) between the Government of Canada and the Government of the Republic of India came into effect on July 1, 2014. David McLennan Appointed To Canada Media Fund Board

Canada Media Fund The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced on Monday the nomination of David McLennan to the CMF’s Board of Directors following the General Assembly held in Montreal last Wednesday. Mr. McLennan has more than 20 years’ experience as a senior business executive. He joined Sierra Wireless in 2004 as Chief Financial Officer and Secretary. CMF Funds Ten Francophone Minority Program Projects

Canada Media Fund The Canada Media Fund has announced that 10 Convergent Stream productions have been awarded $7.2M from the Francophone Minority Program, which supports productions that reflect the realities and interests of French communities outside of Quebec. Since 2010, the CMF has contributed $47.0M to 128 Francophone Minority projects. Canadian audiences will be able to enjoy productions from various parts of the country including two from BC, one from Manitoba, two from New Brunswick, and five from Ontario. BC Government Grants Available For Developing Artists

Province of BCArts and culture organizations and developing artists can now apply for funding assistance through the BC Art Council’s Early Career Development Program. The program supports early career artists wanting to develop their practice while building their portfolio, professional exposure and/or career experience through co-op placement, internship, residency or mentorship. BC Government Asks Students And Institutions For Input On Private Career Training Legislation

Province of BCBC’s Government is inviting written submissions from students, the private career training sector and the public to guide the development of legislation and supporting regulations needed to regulate the sector in British Columbia. As a result of a core review, government announced its intention on April 17, 2014, to directly regulate the private career training sector. Before that can happen, legislation is required to dissolve the Private Career Training Institution Agency and transfer its functions to the Ministry of Advanced Education.
