Thinking Skills Club Brain Games Debuts How-To Video For Teachers And After School Administrators

Thinking Skills ClubThe Thinking Skills Club, an after school activity that uses online games as a way of tuning up children’s cognitive gears, has created a YouTube video giving an overview of the site itself and how it works. Using Snow Line, a game in the Executive Function section of the site, club founder Mitch Moldofsky leads a virtual tour that includes playing the game, demonstrating how the “brain puzzles” that track a child’s progress are built, and even linking up to research about the supporting skills that underlie the choice of games. Online Domestic Violence Training Expands For BC Police

Province of BCAccess to domestic violence training for police advanced today with the launch of a new online course developed to help police better protect vulnerable women and families. The new course, the second in a three-phase training program, provides an in-depth look at how police assess domestic violence risk, with a focus on victim-safety planning. PyCon 2014 Call For Proposals

pycon 2014On the heels of yet another sold out success in PyCon 2013, the conference organizers are happy to announce the new website and Call for Proposals for PyCon 2014. The new site is now live and accepting talk, tutorial, and poster proposals for the April 9-17 2014 conference taking place in Montréal. The first time north of the border brings a change to the call: lightning talk proposals are now being accepted in advance. PyCon’s first trip into Canada, not to be confused with PyCon Canada, ventures into Quebec for a great week at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, in the Old Montréal area. Unlike years past, the conference center isn’t tied to a specific hotel, so the organizers have currently worked out group rates with the Hyatt Regency and Westin hotels in Montréal.
