Daylon Graphics Updates Leveller and Landshaper Products

Daylon GraphicsVancouverDaylon Graphics® Ltd. has announced updates for all of its terrain modeling software applications. Leveller™ 3.1, Landshaper™ 1.1, and Landshaper Golf 2.1 are now available for new and existing users.

“The main improvement is better organization of the document data structure.” explains Ray Gardener, Daylon’s administrator. “Because a document can have multiple views, we stored certain things in view files. But after careful review we felt it was better to move several items up to the document level. Some flexibility was lost doing that, but nothing that anyone willDaylon Landshaper really miss, and the benefits more than make up for it. We want to avoid flexibility merely for its own sake.

“Before, if you forgot to create and associate view files, documents would look different than from the last time they were opened. One would usually have to modify the appearance settings to get them back to what they were. Now that’s history; one can still use view files, but they’re no longer necessary to maintain appearance settings between work sessions.”

SuperMegaUltraGroovy Introduces Capo for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

SuperMegaUltraGroovyWaterlooSuperMegaUltraGroovy today introduced Capo, a remarkable new Mac OS X application that helps aspiring musicians learn to play their favorite tracks. Capo slows down songs from iTunes without changing the pitch, letting users hear every note and chord and play along at their own pace.

“Capo helps you become a better musician,” said Chris Liscio, founder of SuperMegaUltraGroovy. “By slowing down your favorite music, and learning to play songs clearly at a rate you’re comfortable Capowith, your playing technique will improve as you work your way up to full speed.”

Capo allows users to adjust the speed and pitch of audio, independent of one another. Pitch adjustments can be made finely, to match an instrument’s tuning, or coarsely, to change the song’s key. In addition, users can set markers, and create loops, to aid their learning. All these settings can be saved in Capo documents, so that users can later return to where they left off.

Roaring Penguin Software Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Roaring PenguinOttawa – In 1999, David Skoll founded a one-man Linux consulting shop and called it Roaring Penguin Software.  In 2002, David left his solo consulting practice behind and decided to concentrate his company’s efforts exclusively on solving the then relatively new problem of spam.  Roaring Penguin was re-focused with a vision of a world without spam.  Ten years later spam is still here, but Roaring Penguin’s customers wouldn’t know it.  Since 1999, Roaring Penguin has achieved consistent revenue growth to become a small, privately held, profitable, software development company based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

“I am truly humbled by this anniversary,” said David Skoll, President and CTO of Roaring Penguin Software.  “I set out ten years ago to promote Linux as a solution to the networking and computing needs of businesses and government agencies in Ottawa.  Shortly after I started I decided to take on the problem of spam.  It has been ten great years of both personal and professional growth.  I want to say thank you to the many friends of Roaring Penguin who have helped us on our way with advice and encouragement.  I want to say thank you to all the employees, both past and present, who have helped me to achieve my dream.  And most of all, I want to thank our customers who have helped us design the best anti-spam solutions in the world.”
