Knowledge Network’s BC History Shorts Competition – Nelson Edition

knowledge networkThe Knowledge Network is looking for short films about Nelson and the Kootenays, so they’re awarding $30,000 to filmmakers who pitch the best stories. The network is looking for a series of short (2-3 minutes in length) historical documentaries to be created from still photographs – archival, historical and even personal photos – centred around the Kootenays region. Apply online with your name, resume, story concept, and links to your existing work – by April 26, 2013. A short-list of applicants will be invited to a two-day workshop and pitching session on June 1st and 2nd, 2013 in Nelson BC.

On June 2, 2013, one filmmaker will be awarded a commission of $30,000 or two filmmakers will be awarded commissions of $15,000 each to produce their projects for broadcast on Knowledge Network and on Knowledge’s online services. 10 short films will be commissioned in total. Filmmakers must participate in the workshop and pitching session in Nelson BC to be eligible for the commission.
