Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Banana Mania Contest Ends Today

Nintendo Canada [1]Canadians may be eagerly waiting for a spring thaw but there’s no one going more bananas over frozen ice than Donkey Kong.  In just three days, the world’s most recognizable primate will finally learn how many bananas were frozen inside a massive block of ice buried deep in the wilderness.    Canadians have until later today, Thursday February 20, to enter the Banana Mania contest at Nintendo of Canada’s Facebook page [2]. Winners will be contacted on Friday, February 21, when Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze [3] is available at retailers across Canada and the Nintendo eShop.

Donkey Kong and TV personality Ajay Fry documented the head-scratching discovery in this hilarious video which helped to kick-off a national contest hosted by Nintendo of Canada [1] that challenges fans to guess the number of bananas frozen in the huge block of ice.

The grand prize includes a four-day adventure trip for four to Whistler Blackcomb and a Wii U Donkey Kong Prize Pack that includes a Wii U Deluxe Set system, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze game, Wii Remote Plus controller, and Nunchuk controller.

For primates and homo sapiens who are going bananas trying to figure out how many fruit are frozen in ice, check out Nintendo of Canada’s Facebook page [2] for a 360-degree view of the ice block or simply show your love of all things Donkey Kong with downloadable wallpapers for computer desktops and smartphones from the Banana Mania Contest page [4].

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is the next installment in the smash-hit Donkey Kong Country series. The new game lets players embark on an original adventure with Donkey Kong and partners Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong and, for the first time as a playable character, Cranky Kong, as they battle the Snowmads who have invaded and frozen their home, Donkey Kong Island. Players will jump from island to island as they explore a huge variety of new environments, from lush mangroves to burning savannahs and Donkey Kong’s frozen island. The game introduces a number of new features such as online leaderboards, a dynamic camera that adds dimension and depth to the gorgeous on-screen action, upgraded swimming, and the ability to play the full game on the Wii U GamePad controller in off-TV play. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will be available in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on February 21.
