This holiday season is all about Mario. And Link. And Yoshi. And Samus. And Kirby. And … well, a lot of classic video game characters. That’s because Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and the first round of amiibo figures, Nintendo’s first foray into the toys-to-life category, are both launching on November 21, right in time for the holiday shopping season. Nintendo’s favourite characters are going to be everywhere, whether on the battlefields of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, on store shelves as must-have amiibo figures or at the top of everyone’s holiday wish lists. HootSuite has launched The Love List, a recurring monthly report which ranks more than 450 of the world’s top brands on which are seeing the most love on social media. The Love List uses data provided by uberVU via Hootsuite, a robust listening, social monitoring, and advanced analytics solution, to pull in hundreds of millions of publicly available social media posts. Brands are ranked in order on The Love List using three key data points, including the total number of brand mentions received, the sentiment score for the particular brand and the percentage of social conversations about the brand containing the word “love” over a month period of time. A spell is cast over Disney Junior this November with the premiere of the one-hour animated special Sofia the First: The Curse of Princess Ivy. Debuting Saturday, November 29 at 6 p.m. ET the star-studded family event features the voice of film, television and Broadway actress Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect) as the wicked Princess Ivy, who is set out to rule Enchancia, as well as Mandy Moore, who reprises her role as Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled. In anticipation of the exciting adventure, Disney Junior will be playing Classic Disney Princess-themed episodes of Sofia the First from November 24 – November 28 at 6 p.m. ET daily.
