CMF Funded Web Series Indie Games Level Up Goes To Air

Canada Media FundA new series of webisodes is now available for video game fans and followers interested in discovering fresh and innovative titles. Indie Games Level Up! is a series of interviews designed to provide a behind-the-scenes look at innovative Canadian indie video games and game studios. The series will feature passionate entrepreneurs willing to risk everything to push the boundaries of digital culture and video game entertainment.

Video game fans and industry leaders will follow host Phil Lubenskyi as he visits indie studios in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver for in-depth interviews with game makers in episodes lasting 5 to 10 minutes. Upcoming games, their creative process, and the trials and tribulations of making it as an indie are at the center of the interviews. Produced and directed by Montreal based Handmade Creative, the series was born out of the desire of Handmade Creative’s founder, Noah Wohl, to use the experience the studio had gained by creating AAA game trailers, to celebrate the burgeoning indie game scene:

“We take titles that we find different and exciting and introduce those games to fans. At the same time we provide unprecedented access to games creators and insight into the process of video game creation,” said Noah Wohl.

The first episode available as of today features Montreal’s Tuque Games and their upcoming title World War Machine. Aside from fast paced gameplay, World War machine boasts a story written by New York Times bestselling author Daniel H. Wilson.

A new episode of Indie Games Level Up! will be posted every three weeks on Tuesdays. Future episodes include Vancouver’s Imaginary Games, and Montreal based Spearhead Games, all production companies having received funding from the Canada Media Fund (CMF).

As one of Canada’s primary drivers of creation and innovation in the independent video game sector, the CMF is pleased to support this initiative and to make it available to its stakeholders and audiences. The series can be found on the CMF Trends website and on Eye on Canada. Fans can also subscribe via the show’s YouTube channel, or go to Indie Games Level Up! for extra bonus content.
