With the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, fast approaching, Mario™ and Sonic have been training extra hard to make sure they are ready for the biggest competition of the year. The two iconic video game characters are teaming up with their friends in Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games™ launching on November 15 for the Wii U™ console. In the game, some of the most loved characters from the Mario and Sonic universes like Mario, Sonic, Princess Peach™ and Tails compete in Olympic Winter Events like snowboard slopestyle, which is making its debut in both the game and the real-life Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, as well as over-the-top Dream Events that can only exist in the world of video games. And for the first time in the Mario & Sonic series, players with a broadband Internet connection can compete in select events online against other players around the world, earning points for their home countries. Founded by Yaron Bazaz, Eran Elizur and Ronen Tanne, the Vancouver Israeli Tech Club is set to hold its inaugural Meetup event on December 3rd at the SFU Segal Building in Vancouver. This event is sponsored by the Canadian Associates of Ben-Gurion University, which opened a Vancouver office earlier this year. The group will meet to showcase new tech ventures, discuss and help local Israeli-led start-ups.  Founders of several ventures will demo their products, answer questions and ask for assistance in recruiting, professional services, investments and public exposure.  Casual networking will take place before and after the demos. Indie studio Exequor has released the long awaited reboot of Heroes of Zulula.  Dubbed the “MOAR edition”, this new version is available on both Google Play Android and the iOS App Store. Heroes of Zulula is a strategy RPG game which sees the vile Akolan declaring himself the overlord of Zulula, and his first order of business is to ban the traditional tournaments of Zulula forever. Ex-champions Grunty the Cyclop, Ledouche the Knight and Oulette the Slime join forces along with other combatants to defeat Akolan and bring the tournaments back to Zulula. Ottawa indie developer Phillip Meyer has launched a Kickstarter campaign for his retro-style indie PC game King Voxel. With $ 686.00 raised thus far, Meyer is hoping to meet his goal of $ 20 000.00 by the campaign’s end date on December 4th. King Voxel captures the magic of games like “The Legend of Zelda” but adds a world generator and lots of Volume Elements – or, voxels – with a focus on fun gameplay and replayability.
