CBC Live Red Carpet Genie Awards Arrivals Will Be Streamed Online
In addition to broadcast coverage of the 32nd Annual Genie Awards on CBC-TV, the CBC Live Red Carpet will capture all the glamour of the celebrity arrivals online, along with special pre-show coverage and backstage exclusives during commercial breaks at the awards gala. The CBC also announced today that rising TV and film star Rossif Sutherland will serve as the voice of the broadcast on March 8, 2012.
“I’m honored to be part of the Genies, and I’m always proud to participate in anything that helps promote Canadian cinema,” said Sutherland, currently starring in Season 2 of the Showcase hit series “King” opposite Amy Price Francis. His recent feature credits include I’m Yours, opposite Karine Vanasse and directed by Leonard Farlinger, and he received a Genie nomination for ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role’ for his work in High Life, starring Timothy Olyphant and Stephen Eric McIntyre.
As previously announced by CBC and the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, Andrea Martin and George Stroumboulopoulos will host the 32nd Annual Genie Awards on Thursday, March 8, which will be broadcast from Toronto on CBC Television at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT).
Prior to the televised coverage, CBC Genie Awards Live will bring all the excitement and glamour of the CBC Live Red Carpet. Canadian supermodel Stacey McKenzie will host the Genie Awards Red Carpet live stream for CBC Live from 5 to 5:30 p.m. ET, sharing an exclusive look at the arrivals, red carpet fashion and pre-gala emotions. Fans can join in the conversation on Twitter via @CBCLive using the hashtag #GenieAwards.
The Genie Awards Gala Pre Show brings fans the non-televised broadcast portion of the awards gala live from 6 to 6:45 p.m. EST on CBC Live. And then from 7 to 8 p.m. ET it’s the Genie Awards Gala and Backstage Lounge.
