Secret Location Invites You To Delve Into The King Case Files
Secret Location, the award-winning digital agency behind such projects as the Digital Emmy-nominated Endgame Interactive, is deep into building a cross-platform audience for King in advance of the show’s season two premiere on Showcase this Wednesday, February 29th at 9 p.m. et/pt. The audience building campaign is being launched via a six-part online video series and custom Facebook app built for the show by Secret Location.
King Case Files is a polished docu-trailer video series, which delivers first-hand accounts of the criminal worlds that homicide detective, Jessica King (Amy Price-Francis), and her team infiltrate. The short (3 – 4 minute) videos were developed with the show’s largely female audience in mind, providing context to the cases explored in King and building interest in advance of coming episodes. Each video features a mix of footage and factual interviews with police experts.
“The goal of King Case Files is to create an addictive desire of discovery, like a ‘window into the real world’ for fans of King,” said executive producer James Milward. “This strategy will encourage fans to watch the TV episodes in order to see how the themes and cases unfold in fiction.”
King Case Files is being delivered online at Showcase and via a custom Facebook application called Fanviewr. Each docu-trailer can be played immediately in Fanviewr, which also brings together show info, episode synopses, actor bios and trailers. The King Fanviewr tab currently features two case files: #1: Sex Trafficking (with Karen Robinson and Wendy Leaver) and #2: Underground Poker (with Rossif Sutherland and Adam Pettle). The trailers are being promoted on-air and online by Shaw Media and are being supported by an outreach campaign to advocacy groups and organizations.
Cleverly scripted, the Canadian original drama King, follows a charismatic but unconventional lead investigator of Toronto’s Major Crimes Task Force, Jessica King (Price-Francis). Taking over the cases that the boys in blue can’t crack, all the while rocking killer heels, King leaves quite the impression on any crime scene. Rounding out the cast are Alan Van Spang, Gabriel Hogan, Rossif Sutherland, Tony Nardi, Karen Robinson and Romina D’Ugo.
King Case Files was executive produced by James Milward and produced by CJ Hervey at Secret Location. Director Dominic Desjardins and producer Rayne Zukerman led the project on behalf of Indian Grove Productions, the production company behind King. King is an original Showcase drama created by Greg Spottiswood and Bernard Zukerman. The project, and development of the Fanviewr application, were financed through the Bell New Media Fund.
