Toronto’s Digital Community Comes Together to Spread Some Good on April 12
Six hundred digital enthusiasts of Toronto’s thriving digital economy will take over The Fifth Social Club this Thursday, April 12 to share ideas and support a community initiative. Toronto’s next digital party for social good will connect the community to network and have fun, while raising money for The Remix Project, a local charity utilizing mentorship, instruction and the power of the arts to inspire disadvantaged youth and help them achieve their dreams.
“We started DefineTO to support local causes that inspire others to define their own path to success,” said Fahima Anwar, co-founder of DefineTO. “Toronto is driving Canada’s digital economy, and DefineTO provides a way for the people shaping Canada’s newest industry to give something back to their city.”
DefineTO’s corporate sponsors include Rogers Canada, Marketwire/Sysomos, Edelman, and Molson Coors, as well as many more local businesses and media partners that have stepped up to show their support. DefineTO’s official community partners are IABC and mesh, the company behind Canada’s premier digital conference.
“We’re excited about our new partnership with DefineTO, which shares many of the same beliefs we do,” said Mark Evans, co-founder of mesh conference. “mesh and DefineTO have a shared mission to encourage, nurture and celebrate innovation. They are completely aligned, which is a great way to establish a new partnership.”
Hosted by April Kalloo, CityTV’s Breakfast Television segment producer, DefineTO promises a fun and interactive experience. Highlights include a “Twidol” karaoke competition with guests voting for the winner via Twitter, musical performances from Remix and aspiring artists, and lots of prizes and giveaways.
DefineTO takes place this Thursday, April 12 at 7pm at The Fifth Social Club, located at 225 Richmond St West inToronto). Tickets are available for purchase online.
