Canada Media Fund Adds Two New Members To Board Of Directors

Canada Media Fund [1]The Canada Media Fund [1] (CMF) has announced that Alain Cousineau has been nominated to the CMF’s Board of Directors and elected Chair of the Board. Furthermore, Chris Frank has also been nominated to the CMF’s Board of Directors following the Annual general Meeting of Members held in Montreal today.

“I am very impressed by the work accomplished by Louis L. Roquet, outgoing Board Chair, and the rest of the CMF Board and management over the past three years since the CMF was created, said Alain Cousineau.  I am pleased to be joining the Board at this time with such a strong track record of success in supporting the creation of Canadian television and digital media content. I look forward to working with the other Board members to meet the CMF’s strategic objectives and to seize new opportunities for the organization and the Canadian audiovisual content industry.”

Alain Cousineau is a seasoned senior executive with over 25 years of board experience, and is currently Chair of the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal. Mr. Cousineau formerly held positions as President and CEO of Loto-Québec and Groupe Secor. He is also a former Chair of Tourisme Montréal and Société des alcools du Québec. Prior to that, he had a distinguished career in the academic field, primarily at the Université de Sherbrooke School of Business. Mr. Cousineau has also held board positions in a diverse range of industries including the healthcare, life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, aeronautics and electronic business solutions. Mr. Cousineau has extensive consulting experience in marketing and communications and corporate planning and strategy.

Chris Frank is a broadcasting and satellite industry executive. During his career he was a founding officer at ExpressVu Inc. (later Bell ExpressVu and Bell TV). During his 16 years at ExpressVu he held executive management positions in Programming, Regulatory & Government Affairs and Corporate Development. He also spent 10 years at Telesat Canada where he had senior management positions in Regulatory, Government & Public Affairs and Business Development. Mr. Frank started his career in the Federal Public Service where he had management positions at the CRTC, Department of Communications and Secretary of State. He graduated from Carleton University with a B. Comm. (Honours).

CMF Board members are nominated by two member organizations: the Canadian Coalition for Cultural Expression (CCCE), representing Canada’s cable and satellite distributors and the Government of Canada, through Canadian Heritage.
