Video Games Developed And Published In Canada Central To 2014 E3 Expo

ESAC [1]Again showcasing Canadian talent and creativity, an impressive number of Canadian developed and published video games took centre stage at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. Throughout the Expo, Canadian-made games were showcased on next generation consoles and a variety of mobile devices. Emanating from a creative cluster of companies which is the biggest in the world per capita, Canadian-produced games from Entertainment Software Association of Canada [2] member companies at E3 include:

“Over the last decade, Canada has really emerged as one of the best places to make world-class video games,” said Jayson Hilchie, President & CEO of the Entertainment Software Association of Canada. “We have creativity in spades, skilled workers and an innovative spirit which is propelling our games to the highest heights of the industry. E3 is the premier international showcase in our industry and all Canadians should feel proud of the Canadian-made games showcased here today,” he said.

Canada’s video game industry contributes over $2.3 billion to the Canadian economy annually. There are over 300 companies which collectively employ 16,500 Canadians in high-paying, skilled-intensive jobs in cities from coast to coast. The average age of workers in our industry is 31 years and the average salary is $72,500, proving that young people’s talents and passion for digital media can be a meaningful contributor to Canada’s productivity.
