BuildDirect.com Announces New Chief Technology Officer
BuildDirect Technologies Inc. has announced the appointment of Tal Ball as its first Chief Technology Officer (CTO). As CTO, Tal will lead the company in creating and leveraging highly innovative technology to accelerate BuildDirect on its path to creating a smarter, simpler and more empowered home improvement industry.
“Tal joins BuildDirect at an important time in the company’s growth strategy,” says Jeff Booth, BuildDirect’s President and CEO. “His technology leadership will help us build towards our platform vision that will completely change how consumers and manufacturers around the globe interact in the home improvement industry and as a result, deliver a sense of accomplishment and the empowerment of choice, both of which are rooted in our technology.”
Tal brings a unique mix of experience spanning over 25 years in a variety of technology-driven roles, and joins BuildDirect most recently from Gracenote, where he was Senior VP Products, Technology and Content. Gracenote has been deployed to more than 1 billion devices around the world, serving hundreds of millions of active users driving billions of queries per month. Tal was an integral part of the development of the company’s solutions to power some of the most influential brands in digital media, such as Sony and LG Electronics.
“I love building great companies and highly innovative technology,” adds Tal Ball. “And I’m struck by the opportunity at BuildDirect to focus on what I love most, combined with working alongside great people who are focused on a technology-based solution and an experience the world has yet to see.”
Dan Brodie, BuildDirect’s former VP of Technology, was the company’s original technology lead and played a key role in building the company’s team and solutions. He will remain part of the company’s executive team as VP Product Management, where he will build a new department focused on defining and executing on BuildDirect’s platform vision.
