Phase 4 Films Inc. has announced that season two of the hit HISTORY drama series Vikings will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 14, 2014 across Canada. To celebrate the launch of this epic season, Phase 4 Films has also announced a partnership with The Firkin Group of Pubs and Inside Fitness to give fans a taste of life as a Viking and encourage fans to get fit like a Viking.

From October 1 to November 30, 2014, The Firkin Group of Pubs will offer customers a special Vikings menu at all 30 of its locations across Ontario. The menu includes a giant smoked turkey drumstick, chili spice turkey wings, and chipotle and beer BBQ beef ribs. Customers will also be offered the chance to win prizes during the promotional period.

To get fans in shape like a Viking, Inside Fitness is offering its readers the chance to win a “Get Fit Like a Viking” prize pack, valued at more than $500. The prize pack includes a pair of Marley Liberate on-ear headphones, Universal Nutrition Animal Pack supplements, a Titin Force compression weighted system, a copy of Vikings season one and two on DVD and a limited Edition Vikings Letter opener and shield pin.

Vikings focuses on Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), a young warrior and family man who desires to find and conquer new lands across the sea and claim them as his own. Now he is an Earl, allied with King Horrik (Donal Logue). With more power than ever before, his desire to sail west and explore new kingdoms remains unappeasable.

Season two brings crises of faith, of power, of relationships. The action packed and emotionally charged season has brothers rise up against one another; loyalties shift from friend to foe; and has unlikely alliances formed in the name of supremacy. Ragnar’s indiscretions threaten his marriage to Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), tearing him and his beloved son apart. Plots are hatched, scores are settled, and blood is spilled, all under the watchful eyes of the gods.

New to the cast of Vikings in season two are Canadian Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games) as Bjorn, the bold and intelligent son of Ragnar Lothbrok, and Linus Roache (Law & Order) as Ecbert, King of Wessex, a man of strength, knowledge and ambition. They join Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok; Canadian Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha, a fierce shield maiden and Ragnar’s wife; Clive Standen as Rollo, Ragnar’s impulsive, care-free brother; George Blagden as Athelstan, a young and not-so-innocent Monk; Canadian Jessalyn Gilsig as Siggy, beautiful wife of the late Earl Haraldson; Canadian Donal Logue as King Horrik, who desires to make the increasingly famous Earl Ragnar an ally and supporter; Gustaf Skarsgard as Floki, a ship builder who designs the new generation of Viking ships; and Alyssa Sutherland as Princess Aslaug, Ragnar’s new love interest.

Vikings is created and written by Michael Hirst – one of the premier historical storytellers in the industry (Academy Award-winning film Elizabeth; and the Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series The Tudors). Hirst serves as Executive Producer along with John Weber of Take 5 Productions (The Tudors; The Borgias), Sheila Hockin (The Tudors; The Borgias), Morgan O’Sullivan of World 2000 (The Count of Monte Cristo; The Tudors), Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and James Flynn (The Tudors; The Borgias).

Vikings is an international Irish/Canadian co-production being co-produced by Canada’s Take 5 Productions and Ireland’s World 2000.
