Call To Indies For Game Connection Europe 2013

game connection europeOne of industry’s successful growth platforms since 2008, Game Connection’s “Selected Projects”, is once again giving independent developers a unique opportunity to pitch their games in front of some of the gaming world’s most influential people. developers worldwide can submit their projects until September 6th, 2013, with a chance of taking home the ultimate accolade of “Best Project” at Game Connection Europe this December 3-5 at Les Docks de Paris, France.

The contest is open to console, mobile, social, casual and online games at any stage of development with no restriction on genre, platform or distribution method. Due to the incredible amount of applications over previous years, the newly added categories this year make space for an even more cutting-edge selection:

  • Console & PC Hardcore
  • Mobile – Tablet Handheld
  • Social, Casual & Online (Web & Mobile)

All submissions will be assessed by a Judging Committee of international industry experts, with a shortlist of 15 projects to be announced early in October.

On December 3rd, the opening day of Game Connection Europe 2013, each of the 15 finalists will take the spotlight for five minutes – in front of all the major publishers, distributors and buyers at the event. This is a unique chance to have any number of potential partners assess the project with a view to entering individual discussions over the subsequent three days of the event.

“Game Connection has always been focused on helping the development community and Selected Projects is a perfect example. Selecting and promoting innovative and creative projects and giving them the chance to go one step further” said Eric Lacroix, Project Manager & Publisher relationship manager at Game Connection. “Due to its growing success, we have developed Selected Projects one step further by adding categories and so having more than just one project stepping out of the blue. We’ll have one winner per category and of course THE best overall project. We’re very much looking forward to seeing another round of great games.”

In addition, each of the 15 shortlisted projects will receive a free pass to attend Game Connection Europe 2013 (including a €700 discount on any exhibitor option) along with a trailer on the dedicated Selected Projects plasma screen throughout the show, bringing them valuable exposure to countless high level industry professionals.

Past Winners’ Success Stories

  • Since its glorious victory at Game Connection Europe 2012, Frogmind’s Badland has been one of the most downloaded apps on the App Store. It won also an “Apple Design Awards” at the recent Apple WWDC.

“For Badland, Game Connection Europe was a real stepping stone”. Said Juhana Myllys, Co-founder. “It gave the project some real credibility from a public perspective. Most importantly, it gave us an extra boost of confidence to go even further: To create the best possible game experience. GC was also an excellent place to do some vital networking with other developers and platform owners.”

  • Compulsion Games’ team also reached awesome results after participating at Game Connection America 2013, such as having four demo stations on the PlayStation4 Booth at this year’s E3.

“Our win as part of the Selected Project’s competition at Game Connection helped establish Contrast as a landmark game this year, and the subsequent meetings we had with publishers during the conference itself put us in a great negotiation position with several interested publishing parties to sign a favourable deal quickly”. Said Guillaume Provost, Founder. “We signed with Focus Home Interactive, a publisher we first met at the event shortly after, and garnered significant support and publicity from Sony leading up and during E3, which resulted in more than 15 wins and nominations during the conference.”
