Lean Startup Vancouver First Anniversary Event
Lean Startup Vancouver is a Meetup Group for startups and agile businesses who want to transform how their products are built and launched by learning from the experience of others who are influenced by the Lean Startup, Lean, and Agile methodology. Through every other monthly events you will have a chance to compare notes on operational, development, and business issues with peers and learn from guest speakers.
Lean Startup Vancouver will present an impressive array of guest speakers at their first anniversary event on March 8th to engage you with an interesting insight into staying Lean whether you are a serial entrepreneur, successful organizer, or a leading voice of Lean in a large corporation.
Register now for the March 8th Meetup, which is being hosted at The Hive, 210 – 128 W Hastings Street in Vancouver. There is a $5.00 fee to help cover food, beverages and room rental. At press time there were 38 spots still available.
Speakers:
Allen Pike (Steam Clock Software) | @apike – Allen is a Founder of Steam Clock Software, where he builds products for iOS and the web. He has worked at Apple, taught at SFU, and founded VanJS. Allen will share his experience of starting technical meetups and what makes them succeed.
Jesse Heaslip (Intro-Up) | @jonovision – Jesse will share his real world experience using the MVP process to build Intro-Up, a useful app that is like Rapportive for Meetups. Jesse will discuss how to collect feedback, conduct usability studies and hack interfaces on the way to building an awesome product that people use.
Lawell Kiing (SAP) – Lawell is currently a Senior Director of Engineering at SAP in Vancouver, he will discuss some of the experiences he had in the various organizations and attempt to correlate LEAN and innovation and discuss some factors and examples of what worked and what didn’t, from an organization level down to the team and individual level.
Melissa Ness (Vision Critical) | @melissaness – Melissa is an Senior Interaction Designer and Usability Specialist at Vision Critical specializing in solving complex business problems in the least intrusive and most beneficial way possible. Melissa will share her Lean UX experience.
Stuart Ashman (Joyent) – Stuart is the Quality Director at Joyent where he is currently engaged in blending some agile and lean approaches and thinking to improve quality and reduce risk. As you would expect with a startup we are focused on providing value and minimising waste, I will talk about some of the ways in which I attempt to raise the quality bar and avoid waste.
