Humans Win By A Neck in Epic 3D Online Battle
Team Human has reigned victorious, winning by more than 800,000 points over their fanged opponents in the stereoscopic 3D online game, Humans VS Vampires. A fast and fun spin on classic arcade games Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, Humans VS Vampires is the companion game to the TV series, My Babysitter’s a Vampire. Based on the Movie of the Week directed by Bruce McDonald, the show is a special effects, live-action comedy for tweens, spoofing retro horror movies and the Twilight series, and TELETOON’s first live-action property.
Online, points scored in the game helped determine the final episode outcome of Season 1 of My Babysitter’s A Vampire, which aired last Thursday on TELETOON. The final game tally was 3,147,231 points. Team Human scored 1,990,056 points and Team Vampire scored 1,157,175 points.
In just five short months, Humans VS Vampires has become the most-played game throughout 2011 and 2012 on teletoon.com with over 4 million page views. The game uses stereoscopic 3D technology and features photorealistic game avatars, modeled from videos of the actual TV series actors. Players can switch from stereoscopic 3D back to 2D instantly as they battle it out against fantastical backgrounds painted to look like settings from the show. Each avatar has nearly 30 battle moves controlled using the computer keyboard, including three special moves unique to each character. Multiplayer functionality is included and players can send invite codes to their friends by IM, text or email to play live remotely.
Thanks to the humans, the Season 1 finale concluded with a special TELETOON-exclusive scene, with arch villain Jesse (Joe Dinicol) officially banished from Whitechapel by the powerful Vampire Council. Although Season 1 has wrapped in Canada, the game continues both on the show’s official site and on popular game site Kongregate.
A second season of My Babysitter’s a Vampire is currently in post-production for TELETOON and has already been acquired by Disney Channel and Disney XD. The show follows the heroics of three geeky, sci-fi loving dudes and their “smoking hot” vampire babysitter as they defend their town against an avalanche of scary supernatural phenomena. Ethan and his gang come face-to-face with the netherworld of vampires, werewolves and spirit creatures. They form one seriously messed up group of heroes – but they’re just what Whitechapel needs to prevent a total supernatural Armageddon.
Humans VS Vampires was co-produced by Secret Location and Fresh TV and funded by the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund. Humans VS Vampires is Secret Location’s first large-scale, stereoscopic 3D game.
