The Canadian Film Centre, together with Corus Entertainment, Google and Shaw Media, announced the selection of six companies to participate in ideaBOOST, an intensive business accelerator for early stage companies focused on creating content and enabling technologies for the media and entertainment industry. These early stage companies will form ideaBOOST’s second cohort, which begins May 21. An additional nine companies will participate in a newly launched affiliate program. D-Wave Systems Inc., a Burnaby-based commercial quantum computing company, has announced that its new 512-qubit quantum computer, the D-Wave Two, will be installed at the new Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab, a collaboration among NASA, Google and the Universities Space Research Association (USRA). The purpose of this effort is to use quantum computing to advance machine learning in order to solve some of the most challenging computer science problems. Data & Audio-Visual Enterprises Holdings Inc. and its affiliates (collectively, Mobilicity) today announced that it has entered into an arrangement agreement with TELUS Corporation to provide for the sale of Mobilicity as a going concern for a purchase price of $380 million, subject to a working capital adjustment. The transaction constitutes an “Acquisition Plan” under the terms of the Interim Order of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) dated Friday April 26, 2013 (the TELUS Acquisition Plan).
