Hinterland Games is thrilled to announce that talented actor Mark Meer has joined Hinterland and will be voicing The Long Dark‘s protagonist, bush pilot William Mackenzie. Fans of the Mass Effect series will no doubt recognize Mark as the iconic Commander Shepard in that blockbuster game franchise, and we’re honoured that he’ll be bringing the lead character in The Long Dark to life.

“When the team at Hinterland first approached me about The Long Dark, I was immediately hooked. There aren’t many games that offer such an understated, yet powerful role and I knew I had to get involved,” said Meer.

You can listen to teaser audio files on The Long Dark’s Kickstarter campaign page for a bit of a preview on what’s in store for William Mackenzie. The campaign has 28 more days to go, and at press time had reached $ 35, 585.00 of its $ 200, 000.00 goal.

For those not yet familiar with the upcoming title, The Long Dark is a thoughtful, first-person survival simulation that emphasizes quiet exploration in a stark, yet hauntingly beautiful, post-disaster setting. The breathtakingly picturesque Pacific Northwest frames the backdrop for the drama of The Long Dark.

As Mackenzie, you will:

• Risk the daily hazards of wilderness survival in this deep simulation that tracks weather, time of day, temperature, food/water, energy use/consumption, and gear condition. Fight the elements to stay alive!
