In a gala reception hosted by CTV journalist Seamus O’Regan, the second of three awards’ evenings presented by The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television honoured 46 Canadian Screen Award winners in Drama, Children’s or Youth, Comedy and Variety categories, including the winners of four Academy Special Awards. The first annual Canadian Screen Awards will culminate with a broadcast gala hosted by comedian Martin Short, on Sunday, March 3rd at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts. CONCRETE is a first-person ‘experience’ from Dark Acre that explores cyberethics through the senses of a cyborg released as part of Breakdance Mcfunkypant’s One Game A Month initiative. Made over the course of the 4 weeks of February, 2013, ‘CONCRETE’ is an experimental game built in Unity 3D for play via web browsers. The player takes on the role of a cyborg tasked with assassination, and given a chance at redemption. It is an expansion on the characters and world introduced in ‘The Apartment‘, Jack’s previous month’s entry. ‘CONCRETE’ utilizes Allegorithmic’s Substance technology, enabling a high level of graphical fidelity at low overhead. The project is the culmination of over 28 months of full-time solo development by Jack and is the second project to be offered for sale via patronage of Dark Acre.

Best Buy Canada is launching its Electronics Take Back recycling program in Quebec. Beginning March 1, customers in Quebec can responsibly recycle their end-of-life electronics – including TVs, media players, monitors, computers and peripherals – at any local Best Buy store, up to a maximum of two items per day, no matter where they were originally purchased.
