Octasic Announces Availability Of Vocallo MGW Software Version 2.0
Octasic Inc., a Montreal-based innovator of baseband and media processing solutions, has announced the latest release of its Vocallo MGW software. Version 2.0 adds support for the latest audio and video codecs. As the deployment of wideband audio codecs accelerates, operators need to transcode between an even greater range of codecs. Octasic’s Vocallo MGW software supports inter-working between all major wireline and wireless codecs. Version 2.0 adds support for important codecs in the Over-the-top (OTT) communications market, including emerging codecs such as SILK and Opus.
Version 2.0 also adds support for video transcoding between MPEG-2 and H.264 High Profile. As demand for OTT video continues to explode on mobile devices, Octasic’s solutions provide the most power- and space-efficient video processing solution. The Vocallo MGW software can perform transcoding, trans-rating, and bit-rate adaptation on video streams from CIF to 1080p resolution.
The Vocallo MGW software runs on Octasic’s family of multi-core DSPs. Octasic’s most recent device, the OCT2224M, can transcode hundreds of audio sessions simultaneously, across a broad range of codec pairs. The same device can transcode HD video streams or create video conferencing bridges.
“Octasic is the only vendor to support the latest audio and video codecs in a complete hardware and software solution,” said James Awad, Sr. Director of Marketing. “Customers can leverage Octasic’s media processing expertise and focus their efforts on their value added applications.”
Vocallo MGW 2.0 is available for download for existing Octasic customers.
