“The True Heroines” received their first Canadian Screen Award nomination this year. The Vancouver based team behind the web drama series are walking the red carpet of the Canadian Screen Awards Gala at Sheraton Centre (123 Queen St W) on March 4, 2014. Telefilm Canada, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles, in collaboration with Bell Media and the Toronto International Film Festival, will co-host a tribute celebrating Canadian excellence in the film and television industries. The event will take place in Los Angeles on Thursday, February 27th at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills. The invitees include Canadian Academy Awards nominees, select Canadian Screen Awards nominees, and other high-profile Canadian talent. Bell Media has announced that applications are now being accepted for this year’s Bell Media National Fellowship Program. Selected recipients will receive full registration for the 2014 Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) and round-trip air transportation to attend the event, which runs June 8 – 11, 2014 in Banff, Alta. The Banff World Media Festival has announced that Dan Rather will be presented the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 35th annual Festival, being held June 8-11, 2014 in Banff. The Award recognizes an individual who has significantly enriched the world of entertainment with their lifetime contribution to the industry. Fan Expo Vancouver™ 2014 is back – bigger, and better than before. With an extra day to embrace the best of Vancouver’s geekdom, fans are promised a lot more “pop” to go with the all-ages fan culture celebration of comics, sci-fi, horror, anime, and gaming. Last year, over 21,000 got their geek on at the Comicon of Hollywood North. The Toronto Screenwriting Conference (TSC) is calling emerging screenwriters from across Canada to apply for the Telefilm Canada New Voices Award. The award grants five budding writers a complimentary registration to the fifth annual conference where they will learn from preeminent screenwriters including Academy-Award winning scribe of Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3, Michael Arndt. The production team of Reboot Communications and EP Media announced today that the 5th Annual Canadian Videogame Awards (CVAs) will move to November 2014 in Toronto.
