Toronto’s most remarkable Holiday fundraiser, HoHoTO, takes over the Mod Club for the fourth consecutive year on Thursday, December 15, 2011. One of the largest third-party contributors to Daily Bread Food Bank, HoHoTO aims to raise over $65,000 this year, bringing total donations to more than $200,000 since the annual event launched in 2008. Four Canadian mobile game developers are taking part in 12 Indie Apps, a December fundraiser for Child’s Play and Doctors Without Borders. If you haven’t yet purchased Trainyard by Magicule, Smiles HD by Sykhronics Entertainment, Red Nova by Celsius Game Studios or Sword of Fargoal by Fargoal, now is your chance to get some great Canadian-made games and help support two great causes. It should also be noted that while Fargoal is based in Seattle, the studio’s primary dev is Ontario programmer Paul Pridham.

Yesterday in Trenton the Royal Canadian Mint unveiled a silver coin to commemorate the Highway of Heroes. During the ceremony, the Mint also announced that $20 dollars from the sale of each $69.95 Highway of Heroes commemorative coin will be shared between the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial and the Military Families Fund. Cineplex Entertainment has announced it will donate $400,000 to the Starlight Children’s Foundation after hosting its first-ever National Community Day. On October 22nd, guests began lining up early at Cineplex theatres across Canada for a fun-filled morning of free movies, discounted snacks and other events with 100% of the proceeds going to Starlight.
