Over the past year DARC Productions Inc. partners Ryan Cox and Troy Morrissey have been filming a documentary about the world of game jams. They have traveled to San Francisco, Sweden, Newfoundland, and Toronto to capture game jams of all types and have interviewed Jammers from Japan, China, Turkey, Canada, Brazil, Denmark, Sweden, America, Finland, England, Scotland, Germany, Poland, Italy, India, Scotland, England and many other places! Vancouver’s Interdimensional Games Inc (iDGi) has revealed a brand new Intellectual Property,”Consortium” – that has been years in the making. A Kickstarter Campaign has been started, offering a great deal of detailed information about the project. For the past 3 years, through their Alternate Reality Game (A.R.G.), iDGi has been maintaining and developing the abilities of “iDGi-1,” an artificial satellite put into orbit in 2009 which allows for the exploration of an alternate universe. The Penguins in The Desert Productions team will be holding “The Zelda Marathon 4” to support Big Brothers Big Sisters St.Catharines – Thorold & District. The event is a third party fundraising effort that is being put together to aid in mentorship programs, future fundraising efforts and making successful matches for children. The event will begin Friday, December 14th at 7 p.m. ET. The Penguins Productions team will be playing 9 Zelda games for 24 hours a day. Make-A-Wish Quebec was selected by the Montreal Canadians goaltender, Carey Price and Ubisoft as a proud beneficiary of their charity venture. Last month, the three-time Stanley Cup winner and the renowned interactive entertainment company partnered up and announced that an Assassin’s Creed III-themed hockey mask signed by Price will be auctioned off. In development over at Last Pick Productions, iBeg is a mobile game for the iOS and Android platforms that simulates the life of a homeless person living on the streets of Vancouver. Players step into the shoes of a homeless avatar and have to beg for money in order to survive. The game’s creators hope the game will raise awareness of the issue in our city, as well as around the world while providing an avenue for players to support organizations that help the homeless. Kibooco is an interactive platform for kids to create and design their own books. Using fun and intuitive online tools and features designed just for them, children bring stories to life through digital or beautifully printed real-world books. Based in Vancouver, Kibooco was co-founded by Molly Schneeburg, who saw this idea as a way of fusing her creativity, entrepreneurialism and business savvy with her motivations and values as a parent.
