Canadians know far more about how to use digital technologies than about how to protect themselves and others from vulnerabilities created by those technologies. To counter the growing range of cyber threats, this gap in knowledge and awareness needs to be closed, says a Conference Board of Canada report, It’s All About You: Building Capacity in Cyber Security.

The report, which is available as a free download (PDF) from the Conference Board of Canada’s e-library (free account registration required), was produced with the support of the Centre for National Security. The Centre provides a trusted forum for public and private sector organizations to engage with each other on the critical issues affecting Canada’s national security today and in the future. Big Blue Bubble, in conjunction with DIG 2011 Game and Web Developers Conference, has created a great game design competition for anyone with a game design idea. All you have to do is describe your game concept in less than 500 words, attach up to two relevant images or sound files, and submit your idea to the judges. Final day for entry is October 3rd, with the winner being announced on November 7th. The winner will get to work with a team of Big Blue Bubble programmers, artists and producers to create their very own game. Klei Entertainment and EA Partners have announced Shank™ 2, the sequel to last year’s Annie Award nominated downloadable action title. The original game was praised by critics at 1UP.com for being “…the freshest, most unequivocally rewarding beat-em-up game to come along in a decade” and EGM Magazine called the original Shank “…one of the most intense action experiences of the last few years”. The International Association of Business Communicators Canada (IABC Canada) has announced the 2011 recipient of its prestigious Master Communicator designation. Anna Marie Willey, ABC, Director of Communications and Marketing at University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan is Canada’s newest Master Communicator (MC).

The IABC Master Communicator designation is the association’s highest honour in Canada and recognizes outstanding career achievements; contributions to the communications profession; thought leadership, teaching and writing in communications; service and leadership in IABC; and, overall contributions to the broader community. EA DICE and Virgin Gaming have announced the Battlefield 3 Worldwide Conquest Tournament to celebrate the launch of the highly anticipated first-person shooter on October. 25, 2011. The largest console videogame competition in gaming history , players from around the world will compete online in Battlefield 3 for a chance to win $1.6 million in cold hard cash.
