IABC Conference Showcases Best New Waves in Communications
Professional communicators across Canada are congregating in scenic Whistler this November 6th through- 8th for the 2011 International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Canada Western Region conference. Themed the Best of the Best, this year’s conference showcases expert sessions in three key areas: Personal Best, Best Practices and Best are Back – Conference All Stars.
Kicking off the three-day event are stellar pre-conference workshops. Explore employee communications in the new social workspace with Ron Shewchuk, ABC, MC; learn to captivate your audience through storytelling in a business environment with Jennifer Wah, ABC, MC; and gain new insights into communicating through images during a fast-paced interactive session with Chris and Suzanne Salvo. These in-depth sessions are designed to expand your skill set and tap into new ideas in approaching strategic communication.
Pre-conference workshops have limited space, and booking now is encouraged. “You really dig in at these sessions, learning to apply new tactics to transform the way you support your organization,” says Therese Mickelson, ABC, IABC Canada Western Region Conference Chair. “The workshops are a precursor to a line-up of extraordinary speakers, including some of IABC’s top-rated ‘all stars’ including Steve Crescenzo, Kellie Garrett, ABC, MC, and Mark Schumann, ABC. Accessing this talent all in one conference is why the IABC Canada Western Region Conference receives top marks for quality content and value for our delegates.”
Sessions will delve into trending topics in communication, from strategic communication planning and brand management to crisis communication and social media. Paul Mlodzik, ABC, MC, focuses on connecting with stakeholders to uncover the drivers associated with building an authentic brand. Cyrus Mavalwala, ABC, challenges delegates to move from tactician to strategist in building key relationships within your organization. Donna Papacosta examines best practices in content curation and teaches delegates how to integrate content curation into communication strategies.
Celebrating communications excellence will take place at the conference during the 2011 IABC Silver Leaf Awards Gala on November 6. IABC national awards will be presented as well as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Master Communicator (MC) Award and newly Accredited Business Communicators (ABC) in Canada.
