[1]Fuelled by pizza and energy drinks more than 400 students across Canada worked non-stop over the weekend of September 30th to develop 88 mobile games during the Great Canadian Appathon2 [1]. Presented by XMG Studio [2] and the National Post [3], the Great Canadian Appathon2 gave students the opportunity to win over $50,000 in cash and prizes, get their game published and even win a chance at a job in the games industry at XMG Studio.
At the Grand Finale sponsored by KMPG [4], the top three teams will play their game live in front of a panel of judges. They will be competing for bragging rights, Great Canadian Appathon2 supremacy and a chance to win the $25,000 grand prize. The judges had a very difficult task narrowing down the finalists from the initial list of 88 submissions to twenty-five quarter-finalists and then to ten semi-finalists, until the naming of the final three who will compete tonight.
