Vancouver Film School’s 2012 Game Design Expo organizers would like to remind you that the deadline for their Call For Speakers (PDF) for Industry Day on January 21st is this Sunday, October 16th. They are looking for experienced game industry professionals who want to share their expertise and passion with the greater community. The Game Design Expo Industry Speaker Day will take place at the Vancouver International Film Centre, which is located at 1181 Seymour Street.

One of history’s greatest inventors and artists is featured in a new exhibition at the Ontario Science Centre. Leonardo da Vinci’s Workshop: The Exhibition, presented by Barilla Canada Inc., features unique models of Leonardo’s inventions, incredible technology that allows visitors to interact with his notebooks (codices) and digital versions of iconic pieces such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Ontario’s
Wild Games Studio and Boston-based Alnoor Games have released
Gravinaytor, an iOS adaption of the very popular flash-based game of the same title. Gravinaytor features 5 new levels in the iOS version, along with new tutorials, updated in-game navigation and beat the clock modes.

American corporation Zoo Entertainment, Inc. has announced that its subsidiary indiePub has formed a partnership with Connecticut-based 5381 Partners to support the release of its Android All-Stars prepaid retail card program, which will be distributed this holiday season to thousands of retail locations in United States and Canada, including Target, Toys R’ Us, Sam’s Club, Rogers Mobile and numerous others. Android All-Stars is being powered by indiePub’s proprietary digital delivery system which includes an Android client that also offers access to other All-Stars Android games. Hothead Games has launched Gem King,which I thought was a new title – until I went and looked at the iTunes page for the game. Instead, it appears that it is a copy of Kickin’ Momma, a game which I thoroughly enjoy (and paid for), with a different name and a few updates. Kickin’ Momma has been removed from the App Store, and now this free duplicate is not compatible (and thus not downloadable) to my second generation iPod Touch, so apparently the “coming soon” screen on the 4th level of my Kickin’ Momma game will forever be empty – and the enjoyment I had in playing the game has been gutted.
