Unity Technologies, provider of the Unity multi-platform engine and development tools, have opened up public nominations for their annual Unity Awards event held during the Unite conference, this year at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver. Nominations for awards categories will be accepted through June 30. The Unity Awards, first celebrated in 2008, recognize the most outstanding examples of games, simulations, visualizations and other projects created using the Unity development platform across a variety of categories. Doug Buchanan, Managing Director of Granite Partners III L.P. has announced today that the firm has made a major investment in SIM Digital, a world-class rental facility specializing in digital production equipment and workflow services for the television and film industries. This investment has enabled SIM to acquire PS Production Services, one of Canada’s largest professional motion picture and television production equipment rental houses. QuickMobile, a Vancouver-based provider of mobile event app solutions, has closed a $3.2 million round of funding led by existing investors, BDC IT Venture Fund and Vancity. The infusion of capital will allow QuickMobile to add the resources required to meet the unprecedented demand for its new multi-event mobile app platform and continue its international expansion. This funding follows $2.6 million of equity investments received in 2011 from angel investors and Vancity, and a $3.3 million round led by BDC IT Venture Fund in 2012.
