Studio Mokko Receives Financial Support from Government of Canada
The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, has announced that Studio Mokko Inc. has been granted financial assistance for the implementation of a structured marketing strategy, which will include the opening of a sales office, in China.
“The renewal of our agreement with Studio Mokko is in line with the measures put in place by our Government to facilitate access to foreign markets and to help our businesses make the most of these opportunities,” said Minister Lebel.
Established in 2003, Mokko Studio is an innovative company specializing in the production of state-of-the-art visual effects and animation (2D/3D) for the film, television and advertising industries. With 85% of its sales from export, the enterprise is among the world’s top-calibre studios, right behind such giants as ILM (George Lucas) and Weta (Peter Jackson).
The financial support from Canada Economic Development will enable Studio Mokko to increase its presence and gain a stronger foothold in the Chinese market, thus allowing it to position itself as a key player in the special effects and animation services sector. This assistance, granted in the form of a $200,000 repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Quebec Economic Development Program.
