With evolving media consumption habits and funding models continuing to shape the industry, Shaftesbury and its award-winning digital studio Smokebomb Entertainment, have teamed up with the Banff World Media Festival to launch The AMP (Audience Metrics Partnership) Accelerator a branded entertainment pitch competition with a focus on engaging female millennial audiences. The top three finalists will be sent to the Banff Media World Festival to pitch their projects during a live Festival session, where one winner will receive a development deal with Shaftesbury/Smokebomb. Up to six producers from across Canada will be selected to participate in the Whistler Film Festival‘s 2015 Feature Project Lab, an intense two-phase business and creative content development experience for Canadian producers. New for 2015, Phase I will take place over four days from June 21 to June 24 and includes four months of ongoing feedback and project development with advisors. Telefilm Canada has revealed details regarding the course it intends to follow over the next few years, as set out in its strategic plan for 2015 to 2018. This morning in Ottawa, the Chair of Telefilm’s Board, Michel Roy, unveiled Telefilm’s strategic plan during a speech he delivered at Prime Time in Ottawa, an event organized by the Canadian Media Production Association. The plan, titled Inspired by Talent. Viewed Everywhere. (PDF), updates Telefilm’s commitment to support the industry so it can connect with target viewers on all screens, in Canada and elsewhere.
