Loyalty and rewards technology and services provider Ackroo Inc. has announced that it has been selected by the Downtown Penticton Association (DPA), to launch their Downtown Rewards Program – a loyalty program designed to promote local businesses in downtown Penticton, British Columbia. Under the terms of the commercial agreement Ackroo and its channel partner, Balanced Life Enterprises, will work with the DPA and its business members to deploy the community-based rewards program. On March 12, FCAC will be participating in “2 Good 2 Be True” Day, during which Canadians will be encouraged to talk about fraud on Twitter using the #2good2Btrue hashtag and share tips for recognizing, reporting and stopping it. They can also share experiences they’ve had and scams they’re aware of. To educate the public about financial crimes and fraud, a one-hour forum on Twitter called “#Fraudchat” takes place every Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST. This live online chat, moderated by the Financial Crimes Unit of the Toronto Police Service and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO), seeks to educate and exchange ideas with the public about financial crimes and fraud through the use of social media. Found in the HootSuite App Directory, Socialcast is an internal social network for businesses. When it comes to shopping, platforms like Facebook and Twitter aren’t replacing the in-store experience, says a PwC report on the myths of multi-channel spending released today. According to the Multi-Channel Retail Survey, while 42% of Canadians use social media at least once a day and an additional 17% use these channels once a week, just 7% of these consumers are using social platforms to shop.
