SEGA^® has announced that Company of Heroes™ 2, the eagerly anticipated strategy game from Relic Entertainment, Inc., will be running an exclusive, early access beta phase which will go live Tuesday 2^nd April. The closed beta playtest features the game’s critically acclaimed competitive multiplayer and skirmish gameplay, giving players access to six maps, 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 competitive gameplay, as well as the ability to play alone or with teammates against the AI. Independent game development studio Minority Media has announced that its imaginative adventure hit Papo & Yo will be released on Steam on April 18, 2013. Previously available only on PlayStation®Network (PSN), Papo & Yo is receiving a number of updates and improvements for its next release. Based on Creative Director Vander Caballero’s childhood in South America, Papo & Yo follows a young boy, Quico, and his best friend Monster, a mostly-friendly beast with razor-sharp teeth. Canadian tech start-up Whirlscape Inc. has developed “the little keyboard for big fingers.” Minuum is a tiny, one-dimensional keyboard that frees up mobile screen space while allowing fast, accurate typing. Its specialized, patent-protected auto-correction algorithm corrects highly imprecise typing. This algorithm, based on the touchscreen and wearable device research of company founders, Will Walmsley (researcher) and Khai Truong (associate professor) at the University of Toronto, configures the difference between what you type and what you mean, in real time, getting it right even if you miss every single letter. We ventured to Vancouver last Thursday (along with my noxious cold & flu bugs) for a half-hour video interview with members of the Next Level Games dev team about the upcoming Nintendo 3DS title Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, which is scheduled for release on March 24th. In this new game, players will guide Luigi through massive ghost-infested mansions on an action-packed hunt for the pieces of the Dark Moon. Armed with the ghost-sucking Poltergust 5000 and other new gadgets, you’ll have to capture ghosts, solve puzzles, and battle monster-sized bosses. Besides Luigi, the game features Professor E. Gadd and his crew of Toads on the “good” side, while on the bad side we have a nice collection of ghost characters – Hiders, Slammers, Greenies, Gobbers, Poltergeists and Polterpups – along with the infamous Boo and that royal baddy, King Boo. Montreal’s Spearhead Games, a new independent game development studio founded by former EA, Ubisoft® and Eidos® team members Simon Darveau and Atul Mehra, is proud to announce its first game, Tiny Brains. Tiny Brains is a 3D co-op action puzzle game in which up to four players can take the role of tiny (but super-powered!) lab animals.
