Accessible Media Inc. (AMI) has announced the launch of the first annual AMI Scholarships as part of the non-profit organization’s continuing mission to improve, increase and promote media accessibility for all Canadians. BCIC – New Ventures BC Competition has named The Top 15 competitors who will advance to Round 3 automatically, along with the 26 companies who will move to Round 2.5, where they will be assigned temporary mentors. With 100 industry professionals from over 20 attending organizations, and more than 60 students from colleges and universities from across Ontario, Mohawk College’s second annual AppsforHealth event was a much anticipated success. The two-day event provided students and professionals with the opportunity to interact and discuss varying perspectives on industry-related issues in relations to current technology. Etechgigs is based in Vancouver owned and operated by IT professionals who have identified a great need for online gigs. The website has been revamped (although it doesn’t appear to yet be complete) to allow skilled IT professionals to offer cheap and affordable gigs from talented people around the world. Leading creator, producer and distributor Shaftesbury has announced a renewed sponsorship commitment to the Toronto District School Board’s Etobicoke School of the Arts (ESA). As part of its ongoing support of the school, Shaftesbury will donate $30,000 over the next three years to the ESA Film program. Shaftesbury has also announced winners in the inaugural Shaftesbury Student Filmmaker Awards, in order to recognize achievement at each grade level of the ESA Film program.
