Final Production Stage Push For WindForge

snowed in studiosSnowed In Studios launched its first Kickstarter campaign on Wednesday, November 6 to raise $50,000 for the final leg in production of its first original title, WindForge. WindForge is a PC game that blends the fun of Minecraft and Terraria, with a RPG shooter. The 30-day campaign will help the studio complete the game and bring it to market in the first quarter of 2014. Game Connection Europe 2013 Selected Projects Nominees Revealed

On the morning of 3rd December at the Selected Projects Awards Ceremony, each of the 15 nominees will have 5 minutes to pitch their project in front of all the publishers, distributors and buyers at Game Connection Europe. The jury will then award 2013’s Overall Best Project from amongst the hugely impressive and varied, international array of entries – based on presentation quality, project innovation and market potential. Once the final selection has been made, the winners will be presented with their prizes by official sponsors of the Selected Projects program, Sony XDEV Studio Europe, Microsoft Studios and Namco Bandai Games. The Secret World Stars In New Feature Film

funcom“Two worlds, one reality” – so goes the tagline for ‘IRL’, a new feature film by director Erik Leijonborg which features Funcom‘s modern-day massively multiplayer game The Secret World as a central part of the story. Valter Skarsgård (son of Hollywood heavyweight Stellan Skarsgård known from films such as ‘Good Will Hunting’, ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Thor’) plays Elias, the film’s main character. Bullied at school, Elias escapes to the virtual universe of Funcom Montreal’s The Secret World, where he meets a girl – Scarlet – and they eventually decide to meet up in real life. ESAC Releases New Canadian Video Game Industry Facts And Research

ESACThe Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC) has just launched its 2013 Essential Facts Booklet (PDF), which contains 19 pages of research points and information about the Canadian video game industry. Also released today is an in-depth report (PDF) from Nordicity, with 60 pages of industry research of import to the Canadian creative industries sector. In these reports you’ll see that Canada’s video game industry continues to be at the vanguard of Canada’s digital economy, employing 16,500 men and women in 329 creative and innovative companies that collectively contribute $2.3 billion to Canada’s economy. The Long Dark Surpasses Funding Goal

Gamercamp 2013 Is Fast Approaching

GamerCampGamercamp 2013, which is coming up in less than a month, is all set to take over Hotel Ocho in downtown Toronto (yes, the entire hotel) and fill it with gaming goodness from November 1st through 3rd. The organizers have a range of exciting activity planned for everyone from the game enthusiast to the professional developer. Gamercamp is celebrating its 5th anniversary. In the show’s five years, the organizers have brought some of the brightest, most innovative voices in the industry from across North America and Europe to Toronto, with attendance swelling from 100 attendees in the first year to an expected 2,000 this November.
