A new type of horror comes to Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 20, 2012 when Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City launches in North America, with the PC version set for release soon after. Fans who pre-order the game with GameStop, Amazon, or Best Buy will receive one additional costume for each of the six playable characters in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, along with two bonus weapons that are unique for each retailer. Waygoz, the web-based game-swap service, has launched a new contest. The grand prize is a Call of Duty Xbox 360 and a role as the Call of Duty Evangelist on Waygoz.com. All users have to do is head over to the new Waygoz Facebook page, upload a Call of Duty related video or picture and tell Waygoz why they should be selected as the Call of Duty Expert. The contest is open now and closes November 7th. The winner will be announced November 8 2011.
If you haven’t yet heard of Waygoz, it’s a service that connects local gamers, allowing them to swap video games directly, bypassing the need for gamers to accept below market trade in values from traditional game retailers like GameStop, EB Games and Best Buy. Waygoz launched in beta in Toronto on October 23rd with plans to expand North American wide in 2012.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) and the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) announced that they have brought together 12 enforcement agencies to launch an International Do Not Call Network. Telefilm Canada is pleased to announce that five feature films from across the country will be funded under the Canada Feature Film Fund’s selective and performance components.
“The diversity of the films testifies to Telefilm’s commitment to highlighting Canada’s cultural richness,” said Michel Pradier, Telefilm’s Director of Project Financing. “This time around, we have an interesting portfolio of two international coproductions (The Boy Who Smells Like Fish and Foxfire), a drama starring Oscar-nominated actor James Cromwell (Still), a regional first feature (The Disappeared) and a dark comedy (Cottage Country).” Read the rest of this entry »

D-BOX Technologies Inc. and Cineplex Entertainment have announced the newest locations to feature the D-BOX motion technology. Cineplex Odeon Ste. Foy Cinemas in Quebec and Cineplex Odeon Eglinton Town Centre Cinemas in Toronto will offer the D-BOX experience as part of an agreement signed between the two companies last year. In the lead-up to the season two premiere of Canadian original scripted series, Corvid Pictures, Aircraft Pictures and Frantic Films are taking Todd & The Book of Pure Evil online.
Descent into Crowley Heights is a web-based, side-scrolling game that sees players taking on the role of the series’ gang members, who make their way through the familiar world of Todd while battling the enemies and monsters familiar to viewers, all to capture the Book of Pure Evil.
Several mini-game challenges are also available on Facebook, along with an exclusive unlockable character, available for players who track down a special code.
Crowley Heights is produced by Corvid Pictures, Aircraft Pictures and Frantic Films, with service production and project management by lunch with executive producer Amy Miranda and producer Lily-Ann Lee. Relish Interactive was on board for game development with game design by Scott Hiers, along with game programming by Pixelpusher! and 3D animation by Alchemy.
Crowley Heights is produced with the participation of Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund and the Canada Media Fund.

Last year, the Governor General and his wife, Sharon, successfully chased away all the pirates from Rideau Hall. This year, mad scientists will be taking over the grounds! On Halloween night, the general public is invited to trick-or-treat at Rideau Hall from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and see what is being concocted.
Trick-or-treaters will be invited to explore the “scary science experiments path” and visit the laboratories of Halloween Biology 101, Daunting Mathematics, Slimy Chemistry and Frankenstein Physics. Animators from the Club des Débrouillards du Conseil du loisir scientifique de l’Outaouais and educators from the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation will be joining in the scary scientific fun!
In addition to these chilling experiments and a few other surprises, the Rideau Hall staff will be on hand to distribute goodies to visitors of all ages. Street parking is available in the neighbourhood.
