It’s a substantial shot in the arm and vote of confidence for these young startups. BDC Venture Capital has provided four companies that recently completed the program of Vancouver-based startup accelerator GrowLab with $150,000 each in seed funding, for a total commitment of $600,000. ePACT, KarmaHire, Procurify and Spacelist were all judged to be “venture-ready” by a joint BDC Venture Capital and GrowLab selection committee. This means they each developed a solid product that showed significant early traction and, most importantly, they are each led by a team of entrepreneurs who proved they were determined, capable and eager to take on the world. For its upcoming edition, C2-Montreal, in collaboration with Sid Lee, is launching a global collaborative crowdsourcing experiment Boot Camp that will challenge thousands of creative and entrepreneurs from around the world to raise awareness and create a movement to support one of Sir Richard’s favourite causes: ending the war on drugs. The best ideas developed throughout the eighty-day process will be presented to Sir Richard himself and the 2,000 plus international delegates present at the 2013 C2-MTL international commerce and creativity conference on Thursday May 23. The Young Glory competition’s winners, business leaders from around the world, C2-MTL ambassadors, Sid Lee’s 600 employees and all delegates attending C2-MTL will be invited to develop ideas around the cause. Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed® IV Black Flag, the next installment in the company’s best-selling franchise. Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag introduces an all new hero and setting, and will feature the most diverse and seamless Assassin’s Creed world ever created. In development for nearly two years, the game is being spearheaded by one of the veteran Assassin’s Creed teams in Ubisoft Montreal with support from Ubisoft studios in Annecy, Bucharest, Kiev, Quebec, Singapore and Sofia. Assassin’s Creed® IV Black Flag will be released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and 4, Nintendo Wii U, Windows PC and other next generation consoles. Tucows Inc. (NYSE AMEX:TCX, TSX:TC) has announced that its Board of Directors has approved a stock buyback program (the “Share Repurchase”) to repurchase from time to time up to $10 million of its common stock in the open market through the facilities of the NYSE AMEX Stock Exchange. On March 12, FCAC will be participating in “2 Good 2 Be True” Day, during which Canadians will be encouraged to talk about fraud on Twitter using the #2good2Btrue hashtag and share tips for recognizing, reporting and stopping it. To educate the public about financial crimes and fraud, a one-hour forum on Twitter called “#Fraudchat” takes place every Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST.
